If you're applying for jobs in the United States and sending applications all year without understanding hiring cycles, you may be making your job search harder than it needs to be. The U.S. job market does not completely stop or start according to a single calendar. Companies hire throughout the year. However, hiring activity tends to follow seasonal patterns, and some periods are generally more favorable for job seekers than others. Two periods stand out: January–February and September–October. That doesn't mean you are guaranteed an interview or a job during these months. Your experience, skills, location, industry, resume and work authorization still matter. But applying at the right time can put you in front of employers when hiring activity is stronger.
